2010 STATE CONFERENCE 

Congratulations at STATE

Illinois FCCLA State Conference was  held April 9-10 in Springfield Prairie Capitol Convention Center.  Attending this year were Clay City FCCLA members Chelsie Lee (State Officer), Kaleb McKnelly (Publicity Competition), Clinton Rauch (Pastry Arts Competition).  Mrs. Jennifer Kerr (Adviser) The competitions were held on the 9th with awards on the 10th.

State Officer Chelsie Lee  helped plan the meeting and assisted in hosting the event. She has spent the year performing the many duties of state officer. Chelsie first began her duties last July as she and her adviser, Mrs. Jennifer Kerr, attended National Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. They also attended summer workshops and in the fall assisted hosting the Peer Education/Leadership Training in Springfield.  Chelsie was responsible for selling ads to the state program to assist with the cost of production. After a full day of competitions, Chelsie attended a banquet in the state officers honor. During the main session, Chelsie Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Jennifer Kerr, and Mr. Jim Jones,were  recognized on stage and  received plaques to be placed in the school for Chelsie's accomplishments.  She is the 5th state officer from Clay City.

Clinton Rauch competed with his retirement cake which featured a two tone green, paisley-shaped cake which featured a golf scene with golf club and ball.  Clinton designed his cake from a predetermined theme.  He was given 60 minutes to frost and decorate the cake.  He also created a retirement party display that fit within 30 inches.  Clinton was expected to illustrate various decorating techniques.  He was evaluated on his professional skills in sanitation and presentation. Clinton won Most Outstanding in his category

Kaleb McKnelly  competed with his collection of ways he had promoted and publicized the local FCCLA.  He had a detailed record of events and publicity methods for the year. The project will advance to National Competition in Chicago being one of the top two projects in the state.  Kaleb gave an oral presentation about his methods and process of keeping the area informed of local activities. He won a silver medal for his project.

The group would like to thank everyone for their financial and spirited support.

Kaleb McKnelly will compete with his project, Promote and Publicize, at the National FCCLA Convention in July.  The meeting will be held in Chicago with all expenses being the responsibility of those attending.  The Clay City School Board has pledged $900 towards the expenses of Kaleb and his adviser, Mrs. Jennifer Kerr.  If you are interested in making a contributition to the expenses which include motel, meals, and transportation, please contact Mrs. Jennifer Kerr at Clay City High School @ 618-676-1522 ext. 241.  All assistance will be greatly appreciated.

FCCLA '09-'10 Membership Hits All Time High

 Friday September 26, Clay City FCCLA Officers officially affiliated the CCCHS Rosey Center Chapter with the State and National FCCLA Associations The Chapter has 32 members, a seven-member increase since the previous school year. This year, the club has 7 seniors, 6 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 13 freshmen. The membership in the Clay City High School FCCLA Chapter has been steadily rising in the past 5 years.
