Lauren Lybarger, a sophomore at Clay City High School, recently took the hunting trip of a lifetime. Lauren and her dad traveled 2600 miles to Craig, Colorado to hunt for a week with Jim Zumbo and the Elk Outfitters. They stayed in a cabin on the range with three other boys and their fathers. Lauren said they got up in the morning and went out to hunt in 30 degree weather. Half way into her trip Lauren shot an antelope with a .243 rifle.
Lauren won this trip by writing essay with the title "What Hunting Means to My Family and I." This contest was open to all students who have one or two parents deployed in the military. Lauren says this was an amazing experience that neither her dad nor she will ever forget. |
