Clay City senior Leland O’Dell has been named a 2026 Illinois State Scholar. The Illinois State Scholar program recognizes Illinois seniors with top academic potential. It is awarded to the top 10% of high school seniors in the state of Illinois. It is based on ACT score, class rank, and GPA.
O’Dell has been very involved during his years at Clay City High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, TRIO Upward Bound through IECC, school band, is treasurer of the Student Council, and vice president of his class. Looking ahead to his post graduation plans, O’Dell plans to go to a university to study instrumental music performance.
