Tomorrow's Red Ribbon Week dress-up theme is WEAR YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUME! Please remember no masks or weapons and to keep the costume school appropriate.

This week in Mr. Brummer's Astronomy class, students calculated how big the sun would be and the distance between the sun and the Earth if the Earth had a diameter of 1 centimeter. It turns out that the sun would have a diameter of about 1 meter and the distance between the sun and the Earth would be 351.5 feet! The students then created a scale model outside of the school. The blue dot represents the Earth. Finally, they took a picture standing on "Earth" of a student standing on the "sun". The student on the "sun" was so far away that they could barely be seen in the original photo, so the class cropped the photo to make sure the student was there.

Tomorrow's Red Ribbon Week dress-up theme is WEAR PAJAMAS!

SRO Phillips put smiles on faces in the lunchroom today! He was busy connecting with our students and handing out stickers!

Mrs. Klein's second graders completed their unit on habitats by creating mini murals and writing acrostic poems!
Mrs. Yates' kindergarteners learned the poem “Five Little Pumpkins.” They were challenged to make a fence using clothespins and popsicle sticks. Then they acted out the story using candy pumpkins. The best part was getting to eat the pumpkins when they finished!

Clay City is currently under a boil, as of October 28. Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water from home with them to school.

On the road again!
This afternoon Mr. Neubaum hit the road and is visiting a job fair at SIU-Edwardsville. Finding quality educators for Clay City CUSD #10 remains an important point in his commitment to the district.

Tomorrow's Red Ribbon Week dress-up theme is WEAR YOUR FAVORITE TEAM or SCHOOL SHIRT!

Our futures are bright here at Clay City Schools this Red Ribbon Week! Students and staff enjoyed wearing neon or sunglasses as we remember that our futures are better when drugs aren't involved!

Mr. Wattles' driver's ed class had a special visitor. SRO Phillips stopped in with his drunk driving goggles. Students were able to come to the front of the room and attempt to walk while wearing the goggles. Students remarked how difficult it is to maneuver "under the influence" of the goggles. Thank you to SRO Phillips for explaining the dangers of impaired driving to the students!

Clay City Schools kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Monday by wearing red! Students and staff joined in on the fun!
