Mrs. Klein's second grade class is excited to partner with Carle Richland Memorial Hospital to offer the Little Spot Program. This social and emotional learning program encourages students to recognize and regulate their emotions. Carle's Leslie Shan will be visiting monthly to reinforce the Little Spot lessons students will be learning in the classroom. Thank you Carle!

Congratulations John Young! He guessed the closest number of gummy worms without going over at the school library's Back-To-School Night display! He guessed 72 and the jar held 76. John received the jar of gummy worms as his prize.

We were off to a wonderful start yesterday. Good job Clay City! Please remember drop off and pick up is no passing. Also remember if you are taking pictures and walking your kids to the door, please park.
The first Clay City JH Baseball game is Aug. 14 for a 4:30 game time at Leo French Park. Bus will leave at 3:30. If you have time, go support our boys!
Our Junior High Cheerleaders had the privilege of hosting a cheer camp with University of Missouri (Mizzou) Cheerleaders Peyton and Hannah Marvel. We are very excited to see what we can do this year as reigning Conference Champs! Let's Go Cubs!

Here is the official JH Cross Country schedule. The schedule on the school website has been updated as well. We can't wait to see our athletes compete this fall!

Thank you for registering your students for this school year! Our families and secretarial staff did an amazing job with a new system. Remember: The free and reduced lunch application is still important for the state to ensure proper funding and grant opportunities, but this year school lunches are free for all students.

Caroline Hinterscher shared a portion of her fair journey. Here's a snapshot of her Nutcracker routine. Thanks Caroline for representing our school and community with pride. Your confidence as a third grader is inspiring.

Congratulations Ellie Hagen, State Fair Delegate for sweet rolls.

Kindergarten Sight Word Review Exercise for Alex's class! Summer reading loss is real moms.
Our first Summer Art night was full of Fun Creativity! We will meet again Friday from 4-7 at the Clay City Community building.

Way to go Clay City!! Thank you for showing your Clay City Pride and representing our school and community on the stages and in the rings this past week. The Clay County Fair is ingrained in our community. The values that 4-H instills are essential to later life skills. The fair is building entrepreneurs, farmers, businesspeople, and leaders. We are grateful for the leadership example of second year teacher Jesse Hosselton who has served as a volunteer in the community working side by side with his students. I want to acknowledge Mrs. Megan Hildebrand for providing photos from friends and family in the community.

ATTENTION! Please join us on Back To School Night, August 14th from 5:30-7:00.
