Dice and Money. Each person rolls a die and gets the number of pennies as dots shown. Trade in 5 pennies for a nickel, dime, and so forth.

The Clay City CUSD #10 Board of Education has decided that school will be closed April 8, 2024. This is the day of the solar eclipse and we want to make sure that we are doing what we can to protect the safety of our students and staff. Based upon guidance from state and local emergency officials the board believes that closure is our best option to keep everyone safe.
The Daddy Daughter Dance has been rescheduled for March 1.
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) Information
The IAR is a computer-based standardized assessment for all students in Grades 3 - 8 that is designed to measure students’ progress toward the the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, as well as the Standards for Mathematical Practices. IAR was created to replace the PARCC test, and it is shorter in length. Clay City students will take the IAR on the following dates.
Jr High IAR - week of March 19
Elementary IAR - week of April 9
IAR make up - week of April 15
Science assessment for grades 5,8,11 - April 22 - 24

The Clay City Banking Company visited our first graders yesterday. They read "The Adventures of Paddington: Love Day" and each student got to take home their own book.

We're excited to celebrate FCCLA this week. Kicking off the week, sharing what FCCLA is all about with the 8th Graders!
The dinosaurs are coming for family literacy night on March 5. There is a home ball game that evening but it was the only date that worked for both the dinosaur show and us as they travel to St. Louis for their next gig.
There will be an assembly in the afternoon around 2:00 to get kids excited.
